Kena: Scars of Kosmora temple artwork

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is not coming out in 2026. Ember Lab said so on the PlayStation Blog on October 1: the game moves into 2027 so they can polish a larger follow-up to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. There is no new day, month, or window inside 2027. Wishlist it and take it off this year’s list.

If you wanted a new PlayStation game this week rather than a delay notice, Ace Combat 8 is the one that actually shipped, and Star Wars Galactic Racer is the one critics just finished scoring ahead of October 6.

Why it moved

Ember Lab’s Thomas Varga and Josh Grier wrote the post. They have been heads down since the announcement trailer in February, and they still want the game to clear the bar Bridge of Spirits set in 2021, at a bigger scale. The line they chose is the usual one, and it is specific enough to be useful: more time to polish the expanded game, not a rewrite and not a cancellation.

That is the whole scheduling update. Platforms did not change with the delay. Scars of Kosmora is planned for PS5, both physical and digital, and for PC as a digital copy. There is no Xbox mention in the post.

What they shared instead of a date

The blog is a setting pitch, not a late-game dump. Kena is still a Spirit Guide, a fighter and a healer for people who cannot pass on. When that goes wrong, their pain shows up in the world as Corruption, and a Spirit Guide’s job is to cut through it and deal with the cause. The studio says she is good at helping the dead and less sure what the work looks like for the living, or for herself.

Her childhood friend Orfio thinks the island of Kosmora has answers. Kena goes to meet him. The old Spirit Guides there built their practice around four elements and a set of Alchemystic Temples. Four cultures grew around those elements. A cataclysm destroyed one of them, and the symbolism faded even where people still live by the elements. The temples are the dungeon pitch: hard rooms, rewards that change how Kena moves through the rest of the adventure.

Kosmora is not only ruins. Ember Lab says the island still has living cultures, with their own arguments, and Kena has to deal with those people rather than just clear a temple and leave. The map is big enough that walking it would drag, so she has a new way around. A crystalline canine spirit works as a mount, fights with her on foot and on its back, and helps with the temple puzzles. The studio ties that creature to how the island came to be. They do not explain the mystery past that, which is the right amount for a delay post.

Bridge of Spirits was a tight, character-first action adventure. This one is described the same way, then widened: still linear if you stay on the path, with more off to the side if you poke around. That is the “broader and deeper” they say they need 2027 to finish.

What to do with it

Nothing in the store is going to unlock this weekend. The practical move is a wishlist on PS5 or PC so the date, when Ember Lab actually picks one, does not slide by in a trailer you miss.

The delay is believable because the studio spent the post on the shape of the game instead of a vague “stay tuned.” Kosmora, the temples, and the mount are the parts they are willing to show while the rest stays in polish. 2026 was the year. 2027 is the year now, and they have not said which part of it.
