Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch can link with Pokémon HOME today. The Pokémon Company opened the connection on October 7, 2026, so Kanto teams from those Switch remakes can move into HOME and then into other games in the series, including Pokémon Champions.
Transfers are one-way
Read this before you move anything. Once a Pokémon leaves FireRed or LeafGreen for HOME, it cannot go back to that game. Pokémon from other titles also cannot visit FireRed or LeafGreen. The old Game Boy Advance remakes stay a closed box on the way in. HOME is the exit door, and it does not swing both ways.
That matters if you still want a favorite for in-game trades, the Wireless Club, or a second playthrough on the same save. Duplicate or bench what you might miss before you send the original out.
Where your Pokémon can go next
After a Pokémon is in HOME, you can send it on to other series games. The official note calls out Pokémon Champions in particular, so those FireRed and LeafGreen catches can show up in your next battle lineup there once you move them through HOME.
That is the real payoff for players who finished Kanto and wanted those teams somewhere else. HOME is the hub. Champions is one of the destinations named today. Other compatible series games are in play too, under the usual HOME rules for each title. For more Switch 2 Pokémon news, see our Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension bundle rundown.
The Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen launched on February 27, 2026 as digital remakes of the 2004 Game Boy Advance games. They play on Switch and are listed as Switch 2 compatible on Nintendo’s store pages. The remakes already shipped with the Sevii Islands and the classic Wireless Club for local trades and battles. HOME is the piece that was still waiting, and that wait is over.
Celebi for a finished Pokédex
Finish the FireRed or LeafGreen Pokédex and you can receive the Mythical Pokémon Celebi as a gift in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME. You do not have to transfer every Pokémon to HOME to make the count. Once HOME is connected, any species you have already registered in the in-game Pokédex is registered in HOME too.
So you can chase the full dex in FireRed or LeafGreen first, claim Celebi on mobile HOME, and only then decide which teammates actually leave for other games. Completing the dex and emptying the boxes are two different jobs. Do them in that order if you care about both the Mythical and a living Kanto save.
