PEAK console release key art of four scouts on a rocky ledge looking up at the mountain under a purple sky.

The PEAK console release is set for October 22 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and it brings full crossplay with it. Aggro Crab and Landfall, the two studios behind the co-op climbing hit, confirmed the date today, along with a physical PlayStation 5 edition that is up for preorder now.

What PEAK is

You play as a lost nature scout stranded on a strange island, and the only way out is up the mountain in the middle of it. That climb runs through four biomes, each with its own way to kill you, from tornadoes and poison clouds to birds and zombies. Every fall or injury chips away at your stamina, so you are scrounging for sketchy food and patching each other up just to keep moving.

It works solo, but it is built for groups. Up to four scouts can climb together, hauling each other up ledges and leaving ropes and spikes for whoever comes next. The island layout also changes every day, which keeps a regular troop from memorizing the route.

Everything since the PC launch is included

PEAK first landed on Steam in June 2025, and it has picked up a long run of updates since then. The console versions launch with all of it: every content update, every biome, and every new item added since day one. That includes custom runs, which let your group make the climb easier or harder, and yes, the option to physically kick your friends if your troop is into that.

Crossplay covers every platform, so a PS5 player can climb with friends on Xbox, Switch 2, or PC in the same group of four.

How it came together

PEAK started as a one-month game jam, as the team explains on the PlayStation Blog. In February 2025, three developers from Seattle’s Aggro Crab (Another Crab’s Treasure, Going Under) and four from Stockholm’s Landfall (Content Warning, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator) shared a rented apartment in Seoul and built the first version together. The teams met back up in Sweden that June to finish it, and the friendship angle carries straight into the game’s one big rule: never abandon a friend in need.

Price and where to buy

PC: PEAK is not on GOG.com right now, so PEAK on Steam is the place to grab it, at $7.99.

PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo: The digital versions arrive October 22 on the PlayStation Store, the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S, and the Nintendo eShop for Switch 2. A physical PS5 edition is also available to preorder at retailers now.

If your friend group has been waiting for a reason to climb together without everyone being on PC, next Thursday is it. Just agree ahead of time on how much kicking is allowed.
