Ratatan 1.0 is out now, closing out the rhythm roguelike’s year in Early Access with the last two episodes of its story. Ratata Arts and TVT launched the full release on Steam on October 14, and the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions arrived the same day through publisher Game Source Entertainment.
What Ratatan is
If you remember Patapon, the hook will feel familiar, and that is no accident since several of the people behind it are on this team. You tap out rhythm commands in time with the music to send your army of tiny Cobuns forward, attack, or fall back. The twist is that your Ratatan leader moves freely across the side-scrolling battlefield, so deciding where to stand and when to retreat matters as much as hitting the beat. Fights can swell to more than 100 characters on screen, and each run plays out as a roguelike, so you build up your squad between attempts.

What 1.0 adds over Early Access
The headline addition is Episodes 3 and 4, which bring in the final world and the final boss, so the story now plays through to its true ending. Every member of the Dark Ratatan, the rival group that showed up one at a time during Early Access, is now in the game as a boss fight. The update also adds new Mythic weapons and accessories for your Cobuns, plus an ending song recorded with an orchestra.
If you bought in during Early Access, you do not pay again. Your existing save carries over to the full release.
Co-op and modes
Ratatan supports online co-op for up to four players, and cross-play works between Steam, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. There is no couch co-op on a single system, but the whole game can be played solo and offline. On consoles, online play needs the usual membership for each platform.

Price and where to buy
The full release costs more than the Early Access version did, and on Steam the standard edition is now $34.99. A Deluxe Edition is also available, and standard owners can pick up its extra weapons, Cobuns, and upgrade materials later as separate DLC.
PC: Ratatan is not on GOG.com yet, though the studio says a GOG version is in preparation, so keep an eye out if you prefer it there. For now, Ratatan on Steam is $34.99. It runs on Steam Deck, though the studio does not officially support it.
PlayStation: Available now on PS5 through the PlayStation Store.
Xbox: Available now on Xbox Series X|S through the Xbox Store.
Nintendo: Available now on Switch 2 through the Nintendo eShop, with a physical edition that holds the full game on the card rather than a game-key card. A version for the original Switch is in preparation.
Patapon fans have waited a long time for something that scratches this exact itch, and with the story finally complete, now is a good time to march in, whether that is solo or with three friends.
