At Fate's End key art showing Shan with the legendary sword Aesus

At Fate’s End delayed 2027 is the update from Thunder Lotus today. The Spiritfarer studio says it’s pushing the game back because it “needs a little more love and care” before launch. The good news is that a free demo just went live on Steam, so you don’t have to wait to see what it’s about.

What the game is

You play as Shan, the young heir of the Hemlock family, carrying a legendary sword called Aesus. The hook is that the big fights are against your own estranged brothers and sisters. You can win those duels with your blade, but you can also win them with words, using what you’ve learned about each sibling’s secrets to get the upper hand in conversation. Thunder Lotus calls it a game where your skill tree is your family tree, since each sibling you beat or make peace with changes what Shan can do.

It’s a lot more action-heavy than Spiritfarer, but the studio says the same focus on feelings and family is still at the center.

What’s in the demo

The demo is built around one sibling, Shan’s sister Camilla. You dig into what’s going on with her, then face her with the sword, with words, or both. Thunder Lotus is asking players to leave feedback on Steam or fill out its survey, so this is a real chance to shape the final game.

There’s also a new gameplay trailer that introduces Roman, one of Shan’s brothers, and shows more of how the combat and investigation fit together.

Platforms and Game Pass

When it does launch in 2027, At Fate’s End is coming to Steam, the Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox, and it will be on Xbox Game Pass. There’s no exact date yet; the studio says it will share one once things are locked down. It joins Kena: Scars of Kosmora and Crimson Desert in the growing pile of games that moved out of 2026.

A delay with a demo attached is the best kind. Go try it.
