The neon Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign in front of casino towers on Battlefield 6's Vegas Strip map

Battlefield 6 Season 5, Siege of Vegas, is out now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and Update 2.1.1.0 brings two new maps, four new weapons, a new Battle Pass, and REDSEC’s Rapid Royale, plus a balance pass that finally gives ground anti-air some teeth.

Two new maps

Vegas Strip supports every mode size, with land vehicles and helicopters working through casinos, hotel towers, fountains, rooftop ziplines, and the storm drains under the street. Area 51 is the big vehicle map, with jets, helicopters, and tanks on the desert surface and a fresh crater leading down into tight underground tunnels. You can also drop the air traffic control tower to change the sightlines. A third map, the European Casino, arrives with the Casino Heist update on November 10.

The four new guns

  • Mk 24: an assault rifle that gives up magazine size for strong damage at range.
  • RSPR: a compact PDW firing a rifle cartridge, with more recoil and better range than most guns in its class.
  • Z84M: a belt-fed LMG with a 100-round box, built for close range and hard to control.
  • ELR-40: a bolt-action sniper with the longest sweet spot in its class, plus a single-shot ammo option that moves that sweet spot close in.

Rapid Royale and Ranked

REDSEC gets Rapid Royale, a faster battle royale in Trios or Solos with fewer players, airdrops with top-tier loot, and the quickest ring of fire in the game. Kills earn redeploys, so a wiped squad can claw back in. Ranked Battle Royale also leaves Battlefield Labs and launches for real, with redesigned badges, and armor plating is now 20% faster by default.

The balance changes that matter

Mobile anti-air got a full tuning pass. Its shells fly faster with less drag, turret rotation is 50% quicker, and max range sits around 800 meters. Scout Helicopter rockets lose 30% of their splash damage, so they stop one-shotting infantry at common ranges, and rocket pods take 38 seconds to resupply instead of 28.

Tanks and IFVs now take 8 seconds to heal from critical to full, and firing resets the 12-second regen delay. Rear hits on tanks deal 2.5x damage. Controller players should know that gamepad recoil compensation dropped from 11% to 5%, so expect guns to kick a bit more. The SVDM and M39 EMR also got harder to control when spammed at full speed.

Gauntlet is gone as of this update, and the custom game tools picked up new maps, verified modes, and more scripting options.

What’s paid

The Season 5 Battle Pass has more than 100 tiers across four themed paths, with six instant unlocks and new hardware to earn. Battlefield Pro is the paid upgrade on top. It includes full Battle Pass access, 25 tier skips, a 15% XP boost, a bonus reward path, exclusive instant unlocks, and 100-player custom servers. The XP boost and tier skips speed up Battle Pass progress for players who pay. EA hasn’t said which of the new weapons sit on the free track.

What’s next

Battlefield 6 is free to try on PlayStation and Steam from October 15 to 19, with every map and mode open. The Dead Space Convergence event follows from October 20 to November 10 with Marker Incursion, a 16-player PvE mode under Area 51. Casino Heist lands November 10, and Frozen Aces on December 8 brings Platoons and a Server Browser.

If you drifted away from Battlefield 6 over the summer, Area 51 and the anti-air fixes are a good reason to load it back up this week.
