Control Resonant Update 1.4 is the October drop Remedy said was coming: New Game++ for unlimited repeat runs, a stack of quality-of-life tweaks, and a same-day Hotfix 1.4.1 that cleaned up two nasty regressions. Promise kept on the big feature – and honesty on the patch that broke a couple of things on the way in.
Official notes: Remedy Helpshift 1.4.0, controlgame.com blog, and Steam Hotfix 1.4.1.
New Game++ is the headline
At launch, New Game+ meant one more lap. Update 1.4.0 (Oct 1) adds New Game++: another run after another run without wiping progress. That infinite loop is live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Zone rewards got a light tune so maxing Zones on later runs is less of a slog. Main-menu save slots went from five to seven, with original and New Game+ saves in separate folders.
QoL that shows up in the menus
A few systems changes matter more than the bullet count:
- Build Power sits on the Loadout screen instead of hiding under Stats & Effects
- A HUD ping flags new buys or upgrades in The Gap
- Pin upgrade materials and the Vendor map icon shows if they’re in stock
- Unknown Zone combat and intensity are down about 10–15%
- Assist Mode adds a Power Core Charge Duration multiplier (100–300%)
- Separate radio dialogue volume, mute for the Apocalyptica intro, map-marker cleanup, subtitle/VO polish, crash and PC perf work, HDR fixes, Steam Input reconnect, Razer haptics
AMD players get a nudge toward optional Radeon drivers Remedy says help performance and some crashes.
Same-day Hotfix 1.4.1
Yesterday’s patch introduced two regressions players felt immediately. Hotfix 1.4.1 (Oct 2; PS5 1.400.100, Xbox/PC 1.4.1.0) fixes:
- The Park Resonant quest – the required Mold-eating step could stop working and block progression
- Dash into Elevate (Surge in Steam notes) – while fixing unrelated movement, dash momentum into Elevate broke; Remedy restored it and owned the accidental break in the notes
Ship the promised feature, then patch the sharp edges without waiting a week. That is the right post-launch rhythm.
Still cooking – and still reported
Photo Mode stays on the November track from Remedy’s post-launch plans. It was held from launch so the live game came first; community virtual photographers have been in the loop. Not in 1.4.
Community and secondary coverage also flag other side-quest and progression snags around the 1.4 window that are not in the official 1.4.1 notes – escort tasks, some reward or NPC blockers, a few combat-feel reports. Treat those as unverified player reports, not an official known-issues list. If a save is stuck, use Remedy Helpshift with platform, User ID, and a short repro.
If you were waiting on infinite NG+ laps, update and go. If you hit the Park Mold or Dash→Elevate break yesterday, grab 1.4.1 and bounce back into Manhattan. Photo Mode can wait until November.
