Final Fantasy XIV Evercold logo with a hooded figure and frosted branches

Final Fantasy XIV Evercold now launches Tuesday, February 23, 2027, a few weeks past the January 2027 window Square Enix promised when it announced the expansion in April. Square Enix set the new date during the Day 1 keynote at Fan Festival 2026 in Tokyo on October 31. Pre-orders open Wednesday, November 4, starting at $44.99, and a pre-order gets you in four days early on Friday, February 19.

Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Square Enix
Release date: February 23, 2027 (early access February 19)
Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Windows, Mac, Steam)
Price: from $44.99

Four Days Early and an EXP Earring

Every pre-order carries three bonuses. Early access starts February 19 at 1 a.m. Pacific. Halone’s Earring adds 30% EXP from defeating enemies through level 100. A Wind-up Köttr minion rounds it out.

The earring and minion arrive the moment you pre-order, so the EXP boost works on your other jobs well before Evercold is out. Early access has its own gate: you need Dawntrail registered and certain quests finished. Square Enix hasn’t listed which quests yet.

On PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2, the bonuses register on their own when you buy from the console store. On Steam, the code shows up under Manage > CD keys on Final Fantasy XIV Online in your library, and you register it on the Mog Station. PlayStation Store pre-orders also get PlayStation avatars when early access starts.

Four Editions, One Bundle That Skips Consoles

Square Enix’s US product page lists these prices ahead of pre-orders. Console and Steam storefronts may show their own prices once pre-orders open.

EditionPriceWhat you get
Standard$44.99Evercold, plus Endwalker and Dawntrail
Digital Collector’s Edition$64.99Standard, plus the Valhallar Odin mount, Entreat Crystal emote and a Crystal Skyltborg weapon for bastion
Collector’s Bundle (Square Enix Store only)$319.99Digital Collector’s Edition code for Windows or Mac, plus the physical Collector’s Box
Collector’s Box (sold alone)$255.00Physical goods only: no game, no in-game items, no pre-order bonuses

The Digital Collector’s Edition items arrive by moogle letter once early access starts on February 19. The Collector’s Box packs five pieces: a Yoshitaka Amano art box, a reaper figure, a metal keychain, a Köttr mini plush and a tapestry.

The catch is the $319.99 Bundle’s code, which only works on Windows and Mac. Square Enix’s plan for console and Steam players is to buy the Box alone from the Square Enix Store and the Digital Collector’s Edition on their own platform.

Not Standalone, and the Free Trial Doesn’t Count

Evercold isn’t standalone. You need a paid copy of Final Fantasy XIV (the free trial doesn’t count), and a subscription is required to play. FFXIV isn’t on GOG, so on PC it’s the Mog Station or Steam.

Zephyr Takes the Second Job Slot

The keynote revealed zephyr, Evercold’s second new job. It’s a physical ranged DPS that fights with crossbow shots and a bird familiar called Nephele.

Square Enix listed five more additions. Fierce is a new raid difficulty that sits between Normal and Savage. An Evolved combat mode is built around each job’s identity. Seasons is a new reward system. Character creation expands, and Character Action Skins arrive with it. New 8-player fights are built from alliance raid bosses.

The Evangelion: Ghosts of Desire alliance raid got a new trailer, and Tetsuya Nomura drew new art for Beyond the Lifestream, the Final Fantasy VII Remake crossover raid series.

Square Enix says Final Fantasy XIV has passed 35 million registered accounts, and a short slip on a paid expansion is the kind of delay that crowd is likely to forgive. If you’ve never played, the free trial now covers A Realm Reborn through Shadowbringers with no time limit, which is a long runway before you have to decide on Evercold.
