Nintendo Switch Sports Resort key art with Sportsmates playing on Wuhu Island

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort is out now as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, bringing 12 motion-control sports to Wuhu Island along with a new Island Crown mode and an island you can roam freely between matches. It’s a digital release on the Nintendo eShop, and Nintendo also has a system bundle out today for anyone who still needs the hardware.

The 12 sports

The lineup mixes series staples with a few new ideas: Tennis, Bowling, Archery, Boxing, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Golf, Thumb Wrestling, Prop Plane, Skateboarding and Power Cruising. Joy-Con 2 controllers stand in for rackets, bows and handlebars, and Skateboarding uses the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. Jump Rope is there too as a warm-up before you get into the real events.

You can play as a custom Sportsmate or as your Mii. Spocco Points come in as you play, and you spend them on outfits, hairstyles and accessories from weekly and monthly Item Center collections.

Island Crown and exploring Wuhu Island

Island Crown is the new mode for solo players. It works offline and has you climbing the ranks against Island Champions and Legends across nine sports, earning customization items and Spocco Points on the way up. If you’ve been around Wii Sports, you’ll recognize a certain Mii named Matt waiting near the top.

Outside of matches, Wuhu Island is open to explore by Power Cruiser, skateboard or Prop Plane. A Sightseeing Tour adds challenges and Spocco Photos to collect, which gives the island more to do than just sit behind the menus.

Local and online play

Up to four people can play on one Switch 2, and some modes may need extra Joy-Con 2 controllers or other accessories. Online play needs a Nintendo Switch Online membership and covers private Friend Lobbies with up to eight players, relaxed Casual Online matches and the ranked Pro League.

Price and the Switch 2 bundle

The game is $49.99 on the US eShop. Nintendo’s Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle is $529.99 and includes the system, a full game download and a 3-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership, which Nintendo says saves $27.98 over buying them separately. The standalone Switch 2 is $499.99. The download is an estimated 16 GB, and the ESRB rating is Mild Violence.

If your living room has been missing a good game night pick since the original Wii Sports Resort, this one is ready to download tonight. Clear some space around the couch and strap those Joy-Con 2 controllers on.
