Street Fighter V’s online features are switched off on PS4 and Steam, and Capcom is pulling the game from sale while it fixes a security problem in the PHP code the game uses. If you already own it, you can still play offline. You just can’t fight anyone online, and new players can’t buy it right now.

What happened

Capcom first posted an emergency maintenance notice on the game’s Steam page on October 23, saying online content was unavailable because of security work related to PHP. That came two days after the PHP project shipped urgent security releases for two critical flaws that could let an attacker run code on a server remotely.

On October 27, Capcom followed up on the official Street Fighter account. Online content on the PS4 and Steam versions is still down, emergency maintenance is still underway, and sales on the PlayStation Store and Steam are being suspended in stages until the fix is done. The Steam page already says the game is no longer available, and Capcom’s own store has paused sales too.

What still works

Capcom says offline content remains available, so Story, Arcade, Training, Survival, and local Versus matches should all still run. Ranked, Casual matches, Battle Lounges, and the Capcom Fighters Network stats that live online are what’s gone for now.

Capcom hasn’t given a date for when online play or sales come back, and it hasn’t said whether any player data was affected. Capcom’s store notice calls the sales pause temporary, so this reads as a fix in progress, not a shutdown.

If you want to buy a Street Fighter now

Street Fighter V isn’t on GOG, and it can’t be bought on Steam at the moment. If you’re shopping for a fighter today, Street Fighter 6 is $39.99 on Steam and is unaffected. We’ll update this post when Capcom brings Street Fighter V back online.
