Thank You Bus Driver, a five-dollar comedy driving game from Double Fine, is out now on PC, and you can pick up a DRM-free copy on GOG or grab it on Steam. It launched October 14 under the studio’s Double Fine Action Labs publishing label, and it’s Steam Deck Verified.
What you actually do
You’re the town’s bus driver, and the whole job is reaching the next stop before your timer runs out. The problem is the rulebook. The depot keeps adding rules, they change every day, and your passengers keep breaking them. A slap sets a rulebreaker straight, and anyone who keeps acting up gets tossed out the back door. “Your bus, your rules!” is how Double Fine puts it.
Time works like fuel. Every Thank You from a happy rider adds seconds to the clock, so a well-run bus buys you breathing room and an angry one eats into it. You can pull up the map mid-turn, cut through a cornfield, or ignore the fence in front of you entirely. Racking up Thank Yous also unlocks little bus decorations and new versions of the town.

A small game at a big moment for Double Fine
Double Fine went independent again in July after seven years under Xbox, one of four studios that left in the July Xbox restructure, and it got ownership of its games back in the deal. In August the studio told fans that buying any of its games now supports Double Fine directly. Thank You Bus Driver is a tiny release next to Psychonauts, but it lands right in the middle of that comeback.

Price and where to buy
It’s $4.99 on both GOG and Steam. GOG is the pick if you want an installer you keep with no DRM attached, and Steam works fine if your library lives there or you’re playing on a Steam Deck. Double Fine lists the game for Windows PC and Steam Deck only, with no console versions announced.

Five bucks, short bursts of chaos, and the money goes to a newly independent studio. Not a bad trade for a bus ride.
