Snow White and Bigby Wolf stand back to back with a wolf's glowing eyes behind them in The Wolf Among Us Remastered key art

The Wolf Among Us Remastered price is $24.99 since its October 29 launch on PC and consoles, but nobody buying on Steam or Epic has to pay that in the first two weeks. Telltale is running launch discounts through November 12, and if you already own the 2013 original on the same store, the remaster is half off.

That makes this a cheap return trip for anyone with the old game sitting in their Steam or Epic library. Here’s who gets which price, where GOG fits in, and what your PC needs.

Who pays what

Telltale’s launch discount page lays out the offer. It runs from 6am PT on October 29 to 6am PT on November 12, and the store applies it for you. On Steam, Epic and PlayStation, the owner price shows on the store page. On Xbox it’s applied at checkout, and owners with Xbox notifications switched on get an alert.

The dollar amounts are our math on the $24.99 price from Telltale’s October 20 press release. As of October 25, the Steam page didn’t show a price yet, and Telltale says prices and exact end times vary by region and store.

There are two catches. Only digital copies count, because a disc can’t be verified. And the discount stays on the store where you bought the original, on the same account. If you own it on Steam and want to play the remaster on Epic, you’re a new player as far as Epic is concerned.

What GOG owners should know

The 2013 original is still sold DRM-free on GOG, and that’s still the copy to own forever if you just want the classic version. The remaster isn’t on GOG, though. On PC it’s only on Steam and the Epic Games Store at launch.

GOG also isn’t on Telltale’s list of stores whose copies qualify for the owner price. If your old copy lives on GOG, plan on the 20% new-player discount on Steam or Epic, which still brings it to about $19.99 until November 12.

What the remaster changes

The story is the same five episodes, from Faith to Cry Wolf, with your choices carrying through. Bigby Wolf is still sheriff of Fabletown, and the murder that kicks things off is still the one you remember. Telltale’s work went into the presentation: better character models, updated animation, reworked environments and remastered audio. We dug into the relit scenes and the engine change in our earlier story.

The extras are where long-time fans get something new. According to Telltale’s October 20 press release, the remaster includes five playable Lost Scenes cut from the original, an art gallery of more than 100 images, and over an hour of developer interviews. There’s also Noir Mode, which turns the whole game black and white. You can flip it on and off at any time, so it’s a look you can try for one chapter rather than a commitment.

Will your PC run it

Almost certainly. The Steam requirements are light, and they top out at 1080p.

Steam doesn’t list a storage size yet. The game has full controller support, Steam Cloud saves and achievements. PlayStation controller fans should know that Telltale said on X there are no current plans for DualSense button icons in the PC version, so expect Xbox-style prompts.

Steam Deck owners are in decent shape too. Valve hasn’t rated the game yet, but Telltale replied on X that it has been playing on a standard Steam Deck and it’s working fine. Telltale also put the complete first episode out as a free Steam demo during Next Fest, which ran October 19 to 26, so if you tried it, you already know how the remaster runs on your hardware.

Consoles, Switch and physical copies

On consoles, the remaster is a PS5 game and an Xbox One game that plays on Xbox Series X|S through backward compatibility. The Switch version is still delayed, with no new date yet, as we covered in our Switch delay story. Telltale’s discount page says Switch pricing will come later too.

There are no pre-orders, Telltale confirmed on X, so the store pages simply go live on launch day. Physical editions follow in early 2027.

Should you buy it at launch

If you own the original digitally on Steam or Epic, $12.50 for a cleaner version of a game this good, plus cut scenes you’ve never played, is easy to justify. If you’re new to Fabletown, the 20% discount puts it around $20 for a story you can finish over a few evenings, and it’s the obvious warm-up for The Wolf Among Us 2 in 2027. It’s rated M for blood, gore and a sheriff who rarely puts out his cigarette, so it’s a game for after the kids are in bed.

The one person who might wait is the GOG owner hoping for a DRM-free remaster. Nothing says it’s coming, so if you want to go back to Fabletown this fall, Steam or Epic is the way in.
