The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered has already had two patches since it landed on September 29, 2026. On October 1, CD Projekt Red shipped patch 5.00b for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Xbox Play Anywhere PC build, then PC hotfix 5.00c for Steam, GOG, Epic, Battle.net, and Play Anywhere. Saves, a too-quiet voice track, and some ugly lighting got real fixes. The bloom problem the studio is still talking about did not get a final answer.
This is a free upgrade if you already own The Witcher 3 on GOG, Steam, Epic, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. Switch 2 owners who have the original Switch version get the remaster free too. CD Projekt Red’s launch note also points at a 2027 expansion, Songs of the Past, which is why a lot of people reinstalled this week. The remaster itself was built with Yigsoft. Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine come along even if you only owned the base game.
What 5.00b changed
Patch 5.00b is the console-and-Play-Anywhere pass. The notes are short:
- DLSS was missing on the Xbox Play Anywhere PC version. It is back.
- Lighting got another pass, including interiors that were too dark.
- Other adjustments were made so those builds sit closer to the PC version.
CDPR said in that same post that a PC hotfix for the save bug was already in the works. That hotfix is 5.00c, and it landed the same day.
What 5.00c changed on PC
Hotfix 5.00c is the one PC players should actually look for. It covers Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and Xbox Play Anywhere on PC.
- The game could fail to save or load if the path to your Documents folder contained special characters. That is fixed.
- Voiceover could drop way below the rest of the mix after you moved through pause-menu tabs. That is fixed on these PC builds.
- Velen got visual adjustments: bloom, vegetation lighting, saturation, and path-traced lighting.
- A HairWorks change that tanked performance and looked wrong for some people was reverted.
- Marketing telemetry settings now stick.
- GOG achievements show up in the unlocked list after you earn them.
- You can launch the Classic 1.32 version again.
If your save button has been dead, check that you are on 5.00c before you start moving folders around. The bug was specifically a Documents path with special characters, not a full wipe of cloud saves. The Classic launcher fix matters if you wanted the old 1.32 build as a fallback while Remastered settles.
What is still open
Those Velen bloom tweaks are not the studio calling the lighting done. CDPR community director Marcin Momot said the team is looking at the bloom effect across all platforms and hopes to have changes in the next update, with no details and no date yet. Quest designer Pawel Sasko said the same thing in public: two hotfixes are out, more is in progress, including bloom, and they are still reading reports.
Read that as a partial PC pass in Velen, plus a broader fix that has not shipped. If a town still looks blown out or a cave still looks like the lights were never placed, you are in the queue, not looking at a setting you missed.
Switch 2 is the other gap. Neither October 1 note lists a Nintendo build. The free Switch 2 upgrade from the original Switch version is real, and it was part of the September 29 announcement, including motion controls, mouse controls, and a touch-friendly map. It just did not get 5.00b or 5.00c. Console voice-volume complaints are in the same bucket: the PC pause-menu voice fix is written down, and a matching console line is not in either note.
The remaster is playable. It is also still in the first-week patch cycle. Update PC to 5.00c if saves or voices are wrong, and treat bloom as unfinished until CDPR posts the next note.
