Xbox Free Play Days key art with covers for Far Cry 6, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and The Crew Motorfest

Five Ubisoft games are free to try on Xbox through Sunday, October 4, 2026. Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and The Crew Motorfest are all in the Free Play Days lineup that started Thursday, October 1. You do not need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential. If you have an Xbox account, you are in.

This is a weekend try-before-you-buy window, not a permanent library add. Play while it lasts, then decide whether the limited discount is worth locking the save in.

How to install it

On the web, open each game’s page on Xbox.com and move through to the Microsoft Store while signed in. That is where the Free Play Days install option shows up.

On console, open the Xbox Store, go to the Subscriptions tab, and scroll to the Free Play Days collection. That path works on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

If you already bounce between disc and digital licenses on Xbox, the Disc-to-Digital rollout is the longer-term ownership story. Free Play Days is the short hop: try the build, keep the Gamerscore if you buy.

What you keep if you buy

Progress and achievements from the Free Play Days session stick if you purchase the game (or another edition) during the limited discount window. Xbox Wire is clear that discounts, percentages, and which editions show up can change by title and by region, so check your Store tile before you assume a friend in another country sees the same price.

Two numbers that do appear on the official Free Play Days post: Far Cry 6 is listed from $59.99 down to $8.99 (Wire calls that up to 85% off), and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is listed from $29.99 down to $16.49. Odyssey, Skull and Bones, and The Crew Motorfest are in the same event. Their exact sale figures were not printed next to those two tiles on the Wire post, so treat those as “check the Store” rather than a promised percentage.

The five games, in plain terms

Far Cry 6 is the Yara open-world shooter. Solo or co-op guerrilla runs, improvised kits, and a rebel network built around taking down Castillo’s regime. If you bounced off the series after an earlier entry, this is the current mainline pitch and the steepest published discount in the post.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey drops you into Ancient Greece as a Spartan forging a path through city-state conflict, large battles, and mythic encounters. It is the long-form Odyssey-era AC loop: explore, choose, fight, and pick fights you can finish later.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora puts you in the Western Frontier as a Na’vi reconnecting with clans and learning a hostile open world. It is the big Pandora exploration game, not a film recap, and it is one of the two titles with a concrete sale price on the Wire page.

Skull and Bones is free to sail during the event, which lines up with Year 3 Season 2: Crimson Waters. The season adds the Junk as a large ship built around fire damage, new Abyssal Fleet challenges (including the Abyssal Envoy), Modification Transfer, and Mastery Loadouts. Whether you are brand new or coming back after a long dock, the Free Play Days window is the cheap way to see if the current season loop sticks.

The Crew Motorfest is the Hawaii car-culture racer: cruise, race, and collect across the archipelago with a huge vehicle list. Wire pitches it as available at its best price yet during the event. Again, confirm the number on your Store page.

Worth the weekend slot

If any of these have been sitting on your maybe list, Sunday is the hard stop for the free install. Grab the one you are curious about first, put an hour into the campaign or a multiplayer session, and only buy if the limited discount matches what you actually want to keep. The Free Play Days build is the demo with a clock. The purchase is what keeps the save.
