Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed key art with Mickey and Oswald

Epic Mickey Rebrushed Switch 2 is out today. THQ Nordic and developer Purple Lamp released Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed for Nintendo Switch 2 for $39.99, and the Costume Pack DLC is included.

What’s better on Switch 2

The Switch 2 version runs at a higher resolution and a better frame rate than the original Switch release, and it adds mouse-style controls using a Joy-Con 2. That last one is a nice fit here, since so much of the game is about aiming paint and thinner at the world around you.

Already own it on Switch?

Nintendo’s eShop listing for the original Switch version now lists the same Switch 2 improvements (sharper visuals, a smoother frame rate, and Joy-Con 2 mouse controls) when you play it on Switch 2, and it doesn’t list a paid upgrade pack. So if you bought it back in 2024, check for an update on your Switch 2 before you buy it again.

What the game is

Rebrushed is a remake of the 2010 Epic Mickey. Mickey gets pulled into Wasteland, a world where forgotten Disney characters ended up, and he uses a magic brush to fix it or change it. Paint brings things back, thinner erases them, and the choices you make change how the story plays out. Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first creation, is a big part of the adventure.

The remake also gives Mickey new moves the original didn’t have, including a dash, a ground pound, and a sprint, so you have more ways to get around Wasteland and deal with enemies. It’s a single-player game, and you can play it on the TV, in tabletop mode, or handheld.

It’s one more family-friendly pick on a busy month for Switch 2, alongside Octopath Traveler on Switch 2 and Frostpunk’s Switch release on October 19 for older players.

If you skipped this one on Switch 1, the Switch 2 version is the one to get.
