The Stupid Never Dies release time is 3pm PT (6pm ET) today, Wednesday, October 21, on PS5 and Steam. That hour comes from the PlayStation Store and Steam listings, since SEGA and developer GPTRACK50 have only confirmed the date. It’s the first game from GPTRACK50, the studio led by Resident Evil and Devil May Cry producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, with SEGA handling sales worldwide. If you played the demo, your save comes with you.
When it unlocks
The PlayStation Store lists the Standard Edition for 10pm UTC today, and Steam’s countdown points to the same moment. That works out to 3pm PT and 6pm ET on Wednesday. In Japan and other parts of Asia it’s already Thursday by then, which is why GPTRACK50 says some regions get the game on October 22.
There’s no Xbox or Switch version, and the game isn’t on GOG, so on PC your store is Steam. PS5 players can buy it on the PlayStation Store.
Standard vs Glorious Idiot Edition
The Standard Edition is $49.99. The Glorious Idiot Edition is $59.99, digital only, and adds the TickTock Teddies: Nonsense Overload Pack. That’s five TickTock Teddies, and each one changes an in-game effect or animation and brings an arranged version of a music track. The deluxe edition also came with up to 48 hours of early access, so its owners have been playing since 3pm PT on Monday, October 19.
That head start ends the moment everyone else gets in, so from here the extra $10 buys the teddy pack and nothing more. It’s an easy skip unless the cosmetics and remixes appeal to you. On PS5, the store lists an avatar set with 11 designs as a bonus for buying either edition before 2:59pm PT today. A physical PS5 Standard Edition is also coming in some regions.
What kind of game this is
You play Davy, the weakest zombie in a world run by monsters. He falls hard for Julia, a woman frozen solid in a freezer, and the only way to bring her back is to dive into dangerous dungeons and eat his way to the King of Monsters. It’s a single-player 3D action RPG, and it’s rated M.

The hook is how fast Davy gets strong. Style Eat lets you devour elite monsters and steal their powers, with 11 Styles in total, including Werewolf, Vampire and Harpy. Body Hack swaps his body parts for Overtech gear that changes his stats and skills, and Davy Burst is a temporary power spike for when a fight turns on you. Between dives you head back to a shopping mall where Davy’s friends hang out. If action games usually give you trouble, GPTRACK50 says a Go Nuts mode is there to make things easier.
Your demo save carries over
The free First Bite Demo is still available on both stores and covers roughly the first two hours. GPTRACK50 says your demo save carries over to the full game, so the time you’ve put in isn’t wasted. If you haven’t tried it yet, today is a good day to see whether the combat clicks before you spend $50.

Early reviews
Critics have landed in Metacritic’s “Mixed or Average” range ahead of launch, so this looks more like a stylish cult pick than a sure thing. For another PS5 action fix this week, Housemarque’s free Saros: Zenith update added a boss rush and New Game+.
Try the demo first, and if it hooks you, Davy’s ready at 3pm PT.
