A dark, organic-looking corvette ship flies past a ringed planet in No Man's Sky Forsaken

The No Man’s Sky Forsaken update is out now as a free update, version 7.10, on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and both Switch consoles, and it’s a spooky one. Strange traders at space outposts now swap haunted mementos for creepy, organic-looking corvette parts, and you can finally warp to a nearby star without opening the Galaxy Map. The same update also put the full game on iPhone and iPad for the first time. If you liked how Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 gave an old favorite a fresh reason to log in, Forsaken does that for No Man’s Sky.

What Forsaken adds

Forsaken traders are the main addition. They show up at the edges of deep-space outposts and want haunting mementos, which you dig up in infested outposts, deep-space hulks, derelict freighters and digsites. Hang around those places too long and boundary horrors come after you. Trade the mementos in and you get biomechanical corvette modules you can’t get anywhere else.

There are new cockpits too, including the ultra-wide Vantage-Class, the insect-looking Hornet-Class and the boxy Mantis-Class, plus Legion-class interiors for a cramped, cruiser look. Dedicated memento hunters can also earn the Larva Tank helmet, a wriggling larva floating in a tank, and the traders sell a living Larva Cannon Multi-Tool for preserved grubs.

If you’ve got a corvette and a gravitino coil, deep-space outposts now hand out courier missions to deliver packages. Those outposts also have a new Holo-Arena challenger for creature battles.

The quality-of-life changes

Seamless warping is the one you’ll use most. Nearby stars can now be targeted and warped to straight from space, and if your mission target is in another system, the star is marked with the mission icon.

The rest is small but welcome:

  • A new minimal HUD mode cuts the compass and hazard readouts down for experienced players.
  • Multi-Tool modes now come up on a radial wheel instead of cycling through them one by one.
  • Bases built in space can be uploaded so other players can visit them.
  • Planetary trading outposts get a corvette landing pad.
  • The Oxygen Harvester can be built anywhere on a planet, not just inside a base.

Where to get it

If you already own No Man’s Sky, the update is free and downloads on its own. GOG published the 7.10 build on October 28, so the DRM-free version is up to date.

GOG$59.99
Steam$23.99 (60% off $59.99, through November 9)

GOG is the copy you keep as a DRM-free installer, at full price right now. Steam’s sale runs through November 9 if the lower price matters more to you. Either way, seamless warping alone is reason enough to load up an old save.
