Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update 2.5 badge in red and yellow neon

The Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 patch notes are out, and the Edgerunners 2 Update is a lot bigger than a tie-in outfit pack. CD Projekt Red posted the highlights on Wednesday, a day before release, and the free update adds dual-wielding pistols, cyberware skins, two new side quests, mod support on PS5 and Xbox, and an FOV slider for console players. It goes live on PC, Mac, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on Thursday, October 22, with Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version following in the days after.

Dual wielding and cyberware skins

The headline playstyle is a new Cool perk called Double Trouble. It comes with four supporting perks and lets you dual-wield Pistols and Revolvers from the Power category, so it’s a build path for gunslingers rather than something every weapon gets. Photo Mode also gets new poses to show it off.

The other big one is cosmetic but very Cyberpunk: you can now customize your arm cyberware. Equip Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire or the Projectile Launch System, then visit one of five Glamdocs (look for the spray paint icon on the map) to pick a new skin and colors. Every Glamdoc has a different catalog and a voiced intro, so shopping around actually gets you different looks.

New quests and Edgerunners content

There are two new side quests. Clampdown is the Edgerunners one, set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and it rewards a five-piece gear set based on King. To unlock it, finish The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for her to message you. Welcome to Paradise is a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night that turns into a mystery, and it opens after The Heist once you hit Street Cred 15.

There’s also a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, playing tracks from the Edgerunners series, plus 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards hidden around the city that extend the Fool on the Hill quest with a reward for collecting them all.

New clothes and hairstyles

Five new outfit sets are coming to clothing vendors, four of them right away: Maxiwear in Heywood, Arroyo and Little China, Jinguji in City Center, NetWatch in Kabuki and Japantown, and IconAmerica in Pacifica, the Badlands and Northside. CDPR says the fifth arrives a little later. The NUS Infiltrator set is also on sale in Kabuki and Japantown, and V can finally use some hairstyles that were NPC-only until now, though a few are tied to one body type.

Mods on consoles

Update 2.5 adds cross-platform mod support through mod.io, so you can browse and install a selection of player-made mods from the in-game menu on PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. CDPR calls it a first step and says more mods will show up over time. Switch 2 isn’t on that list. One catch for console players: you can’t earn achievements or trophies while playing from a modded save, and the Load Game menu now marks those saves with an icon so you can tell them apart.

Quality of life and tech

Console players finally get an FOV slider. Saves are now grouped by playthrough, and apartment and vehicle stashes have item filters.

On the tech side, PC gets DLSS 4.5 support with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and the second-generation Transformer Model. AMD’s options change too: FSR 3 upscaling is gone, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation stay, and there’s a new FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle. CDPR also lists ray tracing and PS5 Pro performance improvements, better HDR rendering, MetalFX Frame Interpolation and Denoising on Mac, and glasses-free 3D on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors.

Notable fixes

  • HDR settings on PS5 now actually take effect.
  • Switch 2 no longer throws a “Save failed – insufficient space” error when saving.
  • The Delamain cab in Things Done Changed no longer gets stuck after a crash and blocks the quest.
  • Film Grain works again, and the missing Third-Person Camera controller settings are back.

CDPR also lists typo fixes and a batch of fixes for content added since Patch 2.1, and it describes the post as the most important changes rather than the complete changelog.

When you can play it

The update is free and arrives Thursday on PC through GOG, Steam and the Epic Games Store, on Mac, and on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. CDPR hasn’t given a release time for Thursday yet. Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version follow in the next few days. If you missed the announcement, our Update 2.5 preview has the Edgerunners 2 background.

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to roll a new V, a pistol-in-each-hand build with custom Mantis Blades is a pretty good one.
