Phoenix Cyclops is out now in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls as the first fighter in the Year 1 Pass, on PS5 and PC. This isn’t the classic Cyclops. Arc System Works built this Scott Summers around the Phoenix Force, and cashing it in burns through his own health bar.
On PC, @MARVELTokon said around 2 a.m. PT that some players can’t get into Phoenix Cyclops and the team is investigating. PlayStation players aren’t covered by that note.

His Classic and Legacy costumes arrived the same day for anyone who wants the familiar look. Ray Chase voices him.
Four Shards to Dark Phoenix
Arc System Works producer Takeshi Yamanaka, writing on the PlayStation Blog, calls him an all-rounder. He has a wide range of Optic Blasts that work at long range and up close, plus projectiles, rushing attacks, throws and setup tools. The Phoenix Force adds wide fire attacks that cover big chunks of the screen.
The hook is the meter. Every Optic Blast builds Solar Shards, and four of them turn Cyclops into Dark Phoenix. That form brings a big temporary power boost, but it also drains his health, so the timing is the whole game.
The idea comes from the Avengers vs. X-Men storyline, where Cyclops became one of the Phoenix Five and ended up as Dark Phoenix. The younger look is on purpose, per Yamanaka.
The $34.99 Year 1 Pass
Phoenix Cyclops is part of the Year 1 Characters and Stage Pass, which is $34.99 on Steam. The pass covers four characters, one stage and a set of result screen poses, and the rest of its content is due by December 31, 2027. You need the base game, which is $59.99. On Steam, Phoenix Cyclops is also sold on his own for $7.99.
Digital Deluxe Edition ($84.99) and Ultimate Edition ($99.99) owners already have the Year 1 Pass, so Cyclops unlocks without another purchase. Standard owners can move up with the $40 Standard to Ultimate upgrade, which includes the pass.
The update that adds him also kicks off Ranked Phase 2, which runs through the end of January.
Tōkon isn’t on GOG, so on PC you’re buying it on Steam or the Epic Games Store. If you’re coming over from Capcom’s older fighter, Street Fighter V is off sale and offline for now, so this is a game you can actually buy.
Leading a season pass with a fighter who hurts himself to hit harder is a confident call from Arc System Works, and it should give the Ranked Phase 2 crowd something new to lab. Practice the Solar Shard timing on day one, because a mistimed Dark Phoenix is going to hurt.
