Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School unlocks November 5 at 10:00am PST, and the bell schedule just got a lot bigger. Coin Crew Games, the escape-room builders behind the 2022 original, stopped handing you a menu of rooms and built an entire campus to poke around in instead. The original has been played by over 4 million people, per the sequel’s Steam page, and iam8bit Presents publishes this one on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with $19.99 on the Xbox Store as the first listed price.
A Clock Tower, a Lighthouse and Locked Rooms Between Them
The first game moved you from lesson to lesson. Back 2 School drops you onto a new school grounds with a clock tower, a lighthouse and a harbor, then hides its locked rooms around it. Coin Crew calls it “the first open world escape room game”, and the Steam listing promises a conspiracy “as old as the school itself” sitting under the floorboards. Walking the grounds between exams is part of the solve, which is a fresh trick for a series that used to live on a level-select screen.

Two Players, Online or on One Couch
Co-op stays at two players, and the store pages agree on three ways to run it:
- Online co-op on every platform (PS5 needs PS Plus for the online part).
- Shared split-screen on the same TV or PC.
- Cross-platform co-op between Xbox and Windows, per the Microsoft Store listing.
Solo play is fully supported too, so nobody needs a study buddy to finish the year.
No-Timer Mode Lets You Take the Exam at Your Own Pace
Escape rooms live on the countdown, and Coin Crew finally made it optional. A No-Timer Mode removes the clock for players who want to chew on a puzzle without the pressure, and Steam tags the game as playable without timed input with adjustable difficulty. Speedrunners keep their timer. Everyone else gets to stare at a cipher for ten minutes without failing out.

Two Paid Expansions Are Already on the Syllabus
The Season Pass on Steam lists two upcoming major expansions, each with its own story, new rooms and extra credit side quests, all playable solo or in co-op. It also adds the Mask-uerade pack, ten animal masks for the new character customizer. That’s a fixed list you buy once. There’s no rotating shop in sight. DJ Doseone is back on the soundtrack, which is sold separately and bundled in the Deluxe Edition.
The game isn’t on GOG (neither is the first one), so Steam is the PC store to watch, and the Linux build ships there too.
Five Gigabytes and a GTX 1050 Ti Get You In

| OS | Windows 10/11 | Windows 10/11 |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen 7 2700 |

Five gigabytes and a GTX 1050 Ti is a gentle bar for a 2026 release, though both tiers ask for 16 GB of RAM, so check that line before you check the graphics card. If co-op launches are your thing, Lightyear Frontier 1.0 also landed this week with its own co-op farm. Grab a friend, grab a notepad, and save the hardest cipher for whoever brought snacks.
