Lightyear Frontier 1.0 lands November 4, and the mech farming game finally gets wings. FRAME BREAK’s open-world homestead leaves Early Access on Xbox Series X|S and Steam with two new regions, a story that actually wraps up, and a Skyblazer mode that turns your mech into a flyer. If you bought in early, the update is free and your farm comes with you.
Two New Regions Make the World About 40 Percent Bigger
The big 1.0 add is space. The Sandswept Highlands and the Hollow Marsh push the map out by roughly 40 percent, according to FRAME BREAK’s 1.0 announcement, and both are open from the start of a new game.
The story gets its finish line too. Early Access ran through six major updates since March 2024, and 1.0 is where the plot reaches an ending. Day transitions are gone as well.

Skyblazer Turns the Mech Into a Flyer
Your mech already plants, harvests and cleans up the planet. In 1.0 it also flies. The new Skyblazer Transform Mode takes you airborne, which matters a lot more on a map that just got 40 percent bigger.
Two more mech changes ride along. The Seed Shooter gets a Minigun mod, and mech customization has been overhauled.

Four Difficulty Presets, Set by the Host
1.0 lets each world run at its own pace. Pick a preset:
- Creative
- Relaxed
- Balanced
- Challenging
Or open Customize and set things one by one. Settings live per world, and in co-op the host makes the call. Lightyear Frontier supports 2 to 4 players with cross-platform co-op between Xbox and PC.
Lola Now Fetches Your Lost Trailers
FRAME BREAK’s quality-of-life rundown is long, and most of it removes friction:
- Lola’s retrieval service brings back trailers and caches you lost out in the world.
- Trailers are more stable, show up on the HUD and drag less on your speed.
- Deliveries are fewer and can be queued.
- A Resource Scanner points you at what you’re hunting for.
- Map stamps accept text, and missions get markers.
- Hold-to-pick-up and hold-to-contribute controls are new.
- Coziness buffs add Homestead Swiftness (+50 percent move speed in your Home Area) and Eco Driving (-20 percent fuel use).
New crops arrive too: Cloudbud, Coilvine, Papristalk and Quartznip. Seed Stacking kicks in from the Mk. 4 seed shooter, and the building update adds a Planning Mode so you can lay out a build before you commit materials.
Early Access Saves Carry Over to 1.0
According to the studio’s 1.0 FAQ, Early Access owners update for free and existing saves carry over. FRAME BREAK recommends a new save to see everything in order, but it isn’t required, and the new achievements work on old saves. The old Legacy branch stays as is and won’t get updates.
One thing changes at the store. The Pioneer’s Bundle DLC retires on November 4. If you own it, you keep it.
The FAQ says PS5 and Switch 2 versions are something the team is looking into, with nothing confirmed.
Lightyear Frontier PC Specs on Steam
Lightyear Frontier isn’t on GOG, so on PC it’s Steam (Windows). On console, it’s Xbox Series X|S. It’s $29.99 on both Steam and Xbox, and Xbox Play Anywhere means one purchase covers both. Minimum targets 720p at 30fps on low; recommended targets 1080p at 60fps on high.

Like Mycopunk’s jump to 1.0, this is an Early Access run that paid off for the people who stuck with it. Fire up the homestead, grab a friend or three, and go see what the Hollow Marsh grows.
