The Coalition pushed the first Gears of War E-Day patch today, Monday, October 5, 2026, for early access players on Xbox Series X|S and PC. Worldwide open is still tomorrow, Tuesday, October 6. This one is the cleanup pass before that door swings wide.
Stability and performance get a broad sweep, including hardware compatibility and reporting. Online services get the messy multiplayer snags.
Versus Social could sit forever on the “Waiting for players” screen. That is addressed. Xbox sign-in is more reliable when the system clock is way off from real time. The “Bilefrog-Kalona” error, where a split-screen player got signed out after suspending and resuming the game, is in the notes too. Session stability when you pull session info also got a pass.
Campaign fixes cover Acts 2 and 4, plus a few join-in-progress headaches. Players who joined a campaign mid-run could pick up War Journal progress and Forge rewards they had not earned, or miss Forge Discovery progress they should have gotten. Turrets could stick to you when a cinematic or gameplay beat started. Act 2 Chapter 2 had an objective that failed to update at Allfather’s Plaza, and a Heavy Gear in Black Raven Down that could show up without its Vulcan. Act 4 Chapter 1 could skip starting side objectives if you walked in during intro dialogue. Act 4 Chapter 2 had a Power Station defense that sometimes would not complete after the visible enemies were gone.
Horde Siege and Versus get shorter but useful hits. Certain Siege Blitz Secure objectives could refuse to complete, and the extraction helicopter could fail to show on Downtown West Blitz. In Demolition, a bomb could stick in a defusing state if you got eliminated right as the defuse started.
UI tweaks round it out: Online Diagnostic text got resized, and one cause of the UI trying to claim the same Challenge Mail reward over and over is addressed.
If you are already in early access, grab the update before you queue again tonight. If you are waiting for the public open, tomorrow’s launch rundown still holds, and this patch should already be sitting under the build when the clock hits.
