Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 is real, it’s free, and it’s close. CD Projekt Red announced the Edgerunners 2 Update on Tuesday to go with the Netflix premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, and it lands this Thursday, Oct 22, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 version follows shortly after, and CDPR will show the update off in a special REDstreams on Wednesday.
What CDPR has confirmed
The update brings content inspired by the new anime season, plus what CDPR calls “a range of other new items and features” for the base game. The studio’s REDstreams announcement names two of the big ones: cyberware customization and a new dual-wielding playstyle. That’s about as far as the official details go for now. CDPR hasn’t said which anime items are coming, how the new cyberware options work, or how dual wielding plays.
CDPR also calls 2.5 a free update, so there’s nothing to buy to get it.
Release timing by platform
PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S get Update 2.5 on Thursday, Oct 22. CDPR hasn’t given a release time for Thursday yet, only the date. If you play on PC, the update will come through GOG or Steam, depending on where you own the game. Console players can find more of our coverage on the PlayStation and Xbox hubs.
Switch 2 players will have to wait a bit. CDPR says the Nintendo Switch 2 release will “follow shortly,” but there’s no date for it yet. If you want more CD Projekt Red on Switch 2 in the meantime, The Witcher 3 Remastered just got patch 5.01 with sharper visuals and a bloom toggle.
How to watch REDstreams
The REDstreams episode airs Wednesday, Oct 21, at 8am PT / 11am ET (5pm CEST). CDPR is broadcasting it on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam, and the YouTube player above is the same stream, so you can just hit play here when it starts. The studio says it’ll be a first look at what’s coming in 2.5, with cyberware customization and dual wielding on the list.
The official patch notes are set to go up on Oct 21 too, after the stream. That’s where we’ll find out exactly what’s in the update, and we’ll break down the full notes once CDPR posts them.
The anime it ties into
